If the last two tournaments are any indication, Rameez is building a reputation as the King of Smash at the Teen Zone. On December 17, Rameez dominated the competition to win the December edition of the Lawrence Public Library's monthly Super Smash Bros. Brawl tournament. Rameez proved to be too much for the competition and did not drop a single game. Through the tournament, he used multiple characters including Kirby, Link, and to the surprise of his opponents a newly developed Zero Suit Samus.
The tournament saw the return to form of Josh. In the last couple of tournaments, his Toon Link hasn't fared well with a few early exits immediately following the September tournament where he burst onto the scene with a second place. Using a strong camping and projectile game signature to the Toon Link style of play, he was the only player to seriously challenge Rameez, going to the last blow in the first game of the grand finals against Rameez's Zero Suit Samus. A switch to Kirby helped Rameez slam the door shut to bring home the tournament win, reminding Josh and other challengers that they still have a long way to go before they can take on the champ's primary character.
Daniel, November's second place finisher, came in third. After an early round loss to Josh, he tore his way through the loser's bracket. Despite building momentum in the lower bracket, he eventually fell to Josh again in the loser's bracket final. Despite a third place finish, his Mr. Game and Watch is always a consistent contender through recent results. It would not be a surprise if he bounced back from this placing and came out on top come next tournament.
Overall, 12 players attended the double elimination bracket tournament. Future tournaments will be on the third Saturday of every month at 3pm in the Library's auditorium.
